A walk to Nemi
The Palazzola overlooks Lago Albano but there’s also Lago di Nemi just south east and a part of the larger volcanic feature. The Pavit/Headon party had been offered a trip to Nemi the day before and as we’d walked there before, we thought we’d return and enjoy the local speciality of wild strawberries. The Palazzola’s standard description of the route wasn’t particularly clear so David took advantage of a half-price upgrade of Komoot which he’d downloaded in preparation for his planned Alta Via 2 trip. Although we’re not too keen on navigating with phones, this was really helpful in guiding our way. On arrival at Nemi we descended from the waymarked path, through the narrow streets and passed a Renault 4 in pristine condition.

The view from the café terrace is great, as was the strawberry, blueberry and blackberry tartlet (con panna) that we treated ourselves to.
